I would recommend the book to all the history lovers and to people who love reading fiction and I am sure they would love the gripping story.
The book is primarilly centered to learn from history, but its unfortunate that the true history is veiled in Indian acadamics by imparting false perspctive to the subject. But it is also self-serving, divisive and short-sighted, if not wilfully blind to the pitfalls of chest-thumping majoritarianism.
The important part about this book is that the author backs the incidents with appropriate references and also shows the amount of research and back breaking hardworking which has gone in to writing this. Needless to say this was one of the most controversial book ever written, however this novel went on to create a record in the Indian literary world by witnessing 10 reprints within five months of its release. They say history is always written by winners and losers have no place in it.

Aavarana is a thought provoking and compelling read. I invite our great U. Must read for everybody. His books have found their way to the curriculum of undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses of the universities in the state of Karnataka, and have been the subject of about 20 PhD dissertations.
You will have to take harsh criticism, endure tough and at times rogue comments, will have to take comments like anti-national, communal, partisan and all in your stride. I will not go deep into the storyline or the characters but all I want to say is this novel is worth reading if you can take the harsh reality of our history with no sugarcoating.
