I prefer books that have a happier mood, and this one really focused on survival and doing whatever it takes even if it means eating other animals, even a smaller frog!! It would be an excellent book to use during a science section about amphibians, animal reproduction, and various types of animal habitats based around seasons.

It starts out with spring beginning, the bullfrog emerging from the winter, and beautiful imagery of the swampy environment, which is accompanied by illustrations that seem like a mix of rich and vivid water color and acrylic.
